It is the best hauling setup I have ever used. Hitch weight is about 2k and total weight with truck and camper fully loaded is about 18.7k. I also have yellow Sumo Springs installed. I use a fixed B&W companion that uses my OEM pucks. I pull a Grand Design 35’ reflection 5th wheel. I went with a long bed Lariat SRW 7.3 with 3.73 gears. I hope my personal decisions can help you in your choices. I guess what I am saying is it will all work, you can make it work, its just about what you want and why. I know someone who has a 6’ bed who just bought a Solitude and a fixed hitch, he does just fine. I knew people who used sliders, they both used and didn’t use them. I knew people who hauled with a fixed hitch in a 6’ bed just fine. Debated about sliders, non-sliders, short-bed, long-bed. I wanted a tremor real bad, and I wanted to haul a 5th wheel. I feel like you are exactly where I was in 21. Many new designs include a tight turning capability. Easy enough to research and find out for the particular year and model you intend to tow. To your question about 'what type of turning angle without a slide can I expect.,' can't say whether Grand Designs is a similar tight turn design. The Bighorn advertises that it's design includes tight turn capability so I assume that helps. I've backed/turned in a few tight places (close to 90 degrees) and never had to use the slider. The B&W has a manual lever to release the slider, which remains locked in position otherwise, and prevents the slide function during normal use. More of a convenience and it introduces a lot of hitch sliding and clunking when not hooked up. While a great hitch, my opinion is that it's not really necessary. I've also previously owned and used a Pull Right auto-slider hitch. My setup: factory 5th Wheel prep, B&W Companion slider hitch, factory 5th wheel pin on the Bighorn. I have first hand experience towing with my 22 Tremor and a 21 Bighorn 5th Wheel.
